  3. . README        : The installation instructions.
  4.  
  5. . xgopher.man   : The Unix manual "page" for Xgopher.  This serves as
  6.           complete documentation for all of the functionality
  7.           and resources of Xgopher.
  8.  
  9. . xgopher.help   : The on-line help text used by Xgopher when a "Help"
  10.           button is pushed.
  11.  
  12.  
  13. The following documents are found in this directory:

  15. . README-doc    : This file!

  17. . Announce    : Blurb used for the public announcement of Xgopher 1.3
  18.  
  19. . Changes    : Changes in Xgopher from release 1.2 to release 1.3
  20.  
  21. . Release-Notes    : a brief description of this release of Xgopher. 
  22.           This file may be used to advertise a new version
  23.           of Xgopher to users at a site.
  24.  
  25. . Customization    : Methods that can be used to customize the appearance
  26.           or behavior of Xgopher.  This document is primarily
  27.           targeted at the end user of Xgopher.
  28.  
  29. . Install-Customization    : Notes for the installer of Xgopher to use when
  30.           building the program.  These include more detailed
  31.           notes on the auxiliary programs used by Xgopher 
  32.           (e.g., xloadimage) and alternative widgets that may
  33.           be used.
  34.  
  35. . Extended-Types: A tutorial overview with examples of using extended
  36.           types to add or redefine gopher item types for Xgopher.
  37.           This is all done by changing application resources only.
  38.           No changes to the Xgopher program are required.
  39.  
  40. . Popups    : A description of the resources you may use to 
  41.           position each Xgopher popup using the resources file.
  42.           This document contains the compiled-in default values
  43.           and the mechanism you can use to override these values.
  44.  
  45. . Porting    : Notes on porting Xgopher to new computer systems.  In
  46.           particular there is information for some systems that
  47.           may require unusual changes.  The systems used for
  48.           validating Xgopher are also documented in this guide.

  50. . Sun-names    : a discussion of the problem that may show up on a
  51.           Sun computer system which exhibits itself by a failure
  52.           to identify names of other host computers on the internet.
  53.  
  54. . Sunlib-rebuild: Instructions on how to rebuild Sun's libc.so to include
  55.           name resolution routines that may help connecting to 
  56.           other computers.  Refer to Sun-names first, then use
  57.           this document as a last resort.

  59. . Implementation: Some notes on the implementation of Xgopher that
  60.           may be useful to those programmers who want to modify
  61.           portions of the program.
  62.  
  63. . UFL-image     : A perl script that is used instead ot the standard
  64.           Xgopher imageCommand which will detect PostScript (.ps)
  65.           and TeX (.dvi) files and invoke an appropriate
  66.           display program.  A useful example.

  68. . OW3-site.def    : Mods to Sun-supplied site.def file (see README
  69.           for details).
